Derek's Praise for Outgoing Martyn

ARGYLE manager Derek Adams has paid tribute to departing Chief Executive Martyn Starnes.

Starnes arrived with Argyle deep in financial trouble in 2013, and has been part of an off-the-field team that have helped turn Argyle’s fortunes around. This week Martyn announced his intention to leave Argyle, when the Pilgrims have been able to appoint a successor.

Since Adams arrived in 2015 things have looked rosier for the Pilgrims and Adams thanked Starnes for playing his part.

“I enjoyed working with Martyn,” said Derek. “He has been here since I came into the football club and he has been very helpful to me. I’m disappointed that he is leaving and going to pastures new.

“It’s very important, [the manager and CEO] have got to help each other. Martyn and myself had a good working relationship in that way. It is now important that we replace Martyn with someone who gets along well with the manager, has the same beliefs as the manager, and of the football club as the whole.

“I’ve helped him and he has helped me along the way. He has been very successful turning the financial crisis of the football club around.”
