Belief and Perseverance

FREDDIE Ladapo always believed, despite Alex Cairns best efforts in the Fleetwood Town goal, that he and Argyle would nick a goal. In the end, two came his way in the 2-1 Sky Bet League One win at Home Park on Saturday.

Our number 19 found the Town ‘keeper in inspired form and, despite being on a hat-rick for the third time in his Argyle career, the match ball is not yet a trophy he can look for in his cabinet.

Before Freddie had given Argyle the lead, he was denied several times, by both Cairns and the woodwork, but perseverance was the key.

“As long as I’m scoring, I’m happy,” said Freddie. “Whenever it comes it comes [a hat-trick], I’m not too fussed.

“I’m obviously aiming for a goal and the first one I tried to bend it to the right, and it’s crashed onto the post, I’m thinking I’m just unlucky.

“The second chance I thought I’d just go the opposite side this time. When it went in, I could just see everyone feeling that weight off their shoulders. That obviously helped to get the second goal as well.”

“It’s a massive three points and the more wins we get, the happier everyone will be, but we need the games to keep coming round we need to give ourselves the best opportunity to get the three points.

“We all know we are still in the relegation spot, games help us get out of it, we need to win those games.”
