Tavistock 1 Argyle 3

ARGYLE progressed to the next round of the Walter C Parson Funeral Directors League Cup with a sizzling first-half display at Tavistock on Friday night.

Calum Dyson scored twice and Tom Purrington was also on target in the opening 45 minutes to effectively seal victory in the premier knock-out competition for the Carlsberg South-West Peninsula League.

Dyson opened the scoring from close-range after good work down the left flank and the second by Purrington was a peach from distance.

Argyle dominated possession in the first half and the third goal arrived via a superb first-time cross from Alex Battle on the right, which was met by a bullet header from the irrepressible Dyson.

The second period saw Argyle continue to create chances but Tavvy did grab a conslation, and Michael Cooper pulled off a fabulous late save to extinguish any hopes of a recovery from the hosts.
