EFL YA v Oxford H

A LATE goal cost us victory in the Academy's latest EFL Youth Alliance game, against Oxford United.

The Pilgrims went down 2-1 at Tavistock FC's Langsford Park, going behind to a fourth-minute penalty after Reuben Collum was adjudged to have fouled.

They rallied after that and hit the bar through Aaron Goulty as they controlled a first half which ended at 1-1 after Jude Boyd spectacularly volleyed home Rio Garside's cross.

The second half was a more even affair in which Oxford also hit the woodwork before the visitors' goalkeeper made impressive saves from Boyd, Tom Purrington and Klaidi Lolos.

Oxford took all three points with a winner in the final ten minutes although Argyle came close to equalising when substitute Oscar Massey's shot was cleared off the goal-line.

Argyle: Harry Townsend (gk); Joe Seery (Finley Craske 80), Reuben Collum, Tom Purrington, Michael Peck, Isaac Burdon, Jude Boyd, Rio Garside, Rubin Wilson (Sam Wickens 80), Klaidi Lolos, Aaron Goulty (Oscar Massey 80). Substitute (not used): Max Childs (gk).
