SWPL v Launceston A report
OUR Carlsberg South West Peninsula League team stretched their lead at the top of the Premier Division table after a strong side beat Launceston 5-1 at Pennygwillam.
In a side that included seven of the first-team squad, it was some of the youngsters who shone in the first half, ensuring the experienced side went in to the interval with a lead to protect.
Alex Fletcher opened the scoring early on and, after his strike was later cancelled out, Luke Jephcott was on hand to restore the Greens’ advantage just before half-time.
As has to be expected of a team who possessed such quality, Argyle went on to dominate after battling back from the equaliser.
There was no stopping the Pilgrims once in their stride as they created plenty of chances to make the win even more emphatic.
Strikes from Dan Rooney, a second of the evening for Alex Fletcher, and one from summer signing Calum Dyson rounded off the scoring.
