SWPL v Saltash, EFLYA v Swindon preview
OUR Carlsberg South West Peninsula team features in a local derby against Saltash United on Friday evening at the Pilgrims’ Coach Road home in Newton Abbot (7.30pm).
The Ashes warmed up for the match with a convincing 6-0 win over Axminster in the second qualifying round of the FA Buildbase Vase. That assured display means that the Ashes are now in the first round proper of the competition.
While Argyle currently lead the Premier Division table, we have played more games than anyone else in the division; the chasing pack have, in some cases, three games in hand and only seven points separate the top six sides.
In our last outing, a strong 11 swept aside Launceston 5-1 at Pennygwillam in midweek to cement our place at the top of the standings.
A familiar name is in the squad for Saturday’s EFL Youth Alliance match against Swindon Town on Saturday morning.
Young Alfie Wotton, son of first-team coach Paul, has been named among the Under-18 Pilgrims for the game at Callington Town’s Marshfield Parc (11am).
