Under 18s Report - Argyle 1 Bournemouth 1

ACADEMY manager Kevin Hodges was pleased with an improved performance against a very good Cherries outfit which earned his side a point in their Youth Alliance fixture at Callington's Marshfield Parc ground.

As in their recent cup game against the same opposition, Argyle started well with a neat touch from Klaidi Lolos finding Aaron Goulty, who fired in a left-foot drive that was blocked.

Goulty then found the space to send over a cross that saw Mani Skett send a header just wide of the visitor's post.

Bournemouth took the lead against the run of play thanks to a poor decision by the referee's assistant who adjudged that Harry Townsend had fouled in preventing a goal. Protests were waved aside and the Cherries subsequently converted the 32nd-minute spot-kick.

Argyle continued to enjoy the majority of the possession after the break although the Cherries were dangerous on the break and Townsend had to make two fine saves.

The young Pilgrims were rewarded with a 76th-minute equaliser as good build-up play by Lolos saw him find Jude Boyd, who showed good composure before firing home from just inside the area.

Argyle could have won the game in the dying minutes but Joe Seery was twice denied after meeting Rio Garside's cross at the far post.
