A Helping Hand
MEMBERS of the Big Green Lottery are funding an overnight trip to Gillingham as the EFL Merit League 2 season approaches its climax.
The young Pilgrims are travelling to Kent on Monday evening for a clash with the Gills on Tuesday, just a couple of days after the weekend draw with Barnet maintained Argyle’s unbeaten start to Merit League 2.
Argyle began the Merit League 2 sequence with victories over Cheltenham and Cambridge, followed by a draw with Forest Green Rovers. It was back to winning ways with a 2-0 success at Leyton Orient and then the weekend draw with Barnet.
It is a tough week ahead for Argyle, as our trip to Gillingham is swiftly followed by another away game at MK Dons, making this contribution from the BGL very welcome for Academy Director Kevin Hodges.
“We are very grateful to the Big Green Lottery members for funding this trip to Gillingham,” said Hodgy.
“It is a tough week, with two away games in quick succession, and an overnight stay gives the players an opportunity to prepare properly.
“Everything we do in the Academy is designed to prepare young players for what lies ahead in professional football. A tough midweek trip is part of life as a footballer and the BGL has proved to be a major boost for the Academy.
“Over the course of this season, BGL members have also funded the purchase of a new minibus for the Academy and we have a number of new projects in the pipeline, all of which have been made more realistic by contributions from the Big Green Lottery.”
