Peterborough 1 Argyle 1

ARGYLE played out an impressive draw against an experienced Peterborough United side in the Central League on Tuesday.

The Pilgrims largely comprised young professionals for the game but matched their hosts all afternoon, despite the Posh playing with a side that contained decent first-team experience.

After a tight first period, Argyle found a breakthrough when Lionel Ainsworth provided the ideal cross for Alex Fletcher to head home the opener. Peterborough responded well to going behind and grabbed a point with a well-taken equaliser, but definitely another positive day for Argyle in the Central League campaign.

“They had a senior team and a very good challenge for us,” said first-team coach Kevin Nancekivell. “We were delighted with the performance from our lads. We were really good today, lots of positive performances.”

Argyle: Michael Cooper; Tafari Moore, Scott Wootton, Michael Peck, Ryan Law; Adam Randall, Tom Purrington, Dan Rooney; Lionel Ainsworth (Harry Hodges 75), Alex Fletcher (Klaidi Lolos 80), Luke Jephcott (Alex Battle 70). Substitutes (not used): Ollie Tomlinson, Harry Townsend (GK).
