Fans, Club and Manager

NEW Argyle defender Josh Grant is looking forward to making his debut for the Greens and he already knows what to expect at Home Park, having taken on board advice from his cousin, and former Argyle midfielder, Luke Croll.

Luke was signed under Derek Adams on the eve of the Devon Derby with Exeter in 2015. Overall, he made three appearances for the club in November 2015 and his home debut came against the Grecians in a 2-1 defeat.

Josh, on a six-month loan from Chelsea, was part of the young Blues’ side that beat Argyle 5-0 in last season’s Checkatrade Trophy at Home Park during the group stages.

Josh said: “I did [play in the 5-0 win for Chelsea at Home Park last season], we will have to keep that quiet. It was a good atmosphere and, hopefully, it’s rocking on Saturday for the first home game [against Colchester in Sky Bet League Two] and I enjoy my time here.”

His stay in Devon will not be his first experience of football in the south-west, having enjoyed a similar spell with Yeovil in Sky Bet League Two last season. Although the Glovers dropped out of the Football League, Josh feels it was an experience that will help him in a Green shirt.

“I went to Yeovil in January,” said Josh. “I was a little upset as I felt that I maybe didn’t play as many games as I would have liked to. It was a great experience, I was gutted to get relegated but I have learnt from that and I hope that can be of use to me here.“

Looking ahead, josh is excited for what the future might hold for him in Devon and says there are a number of factors which convinced him to sign on at the Theatre of Greens.

“Loads of things [bring me here],” said Josh. “It’s a great club, great fans and, obviously, the pull of the manager [Ryan Lowe]. When you see that the manager has taken five players from his previous club, you know he’s a good manager to come and work under. “
