Battle-Ready

RESPECT for the battle will be the Argyle mantra as we welcome bottom-club Morecambe to Home Park today.

The Shrimps have endured a tough start to their Sky Bet League Two campaign and, after parting company with long-serving manager Jim Bentley, turned to former Argyle boss Derek Adams last month in a bid to help them climb away from the relegation area.

For Pilgrim manager Ryan Lowe, it all adds up to a tough opponent and his players will be fully focussed on the business of winning on a special day that will see the Green Army inside the Mayflower Grandstand for the first time in a long time.

“We certainly respect Morecambe, they’ve had a great manager in Jim Bentley, they’ve got some good players there and they’ve always fought and battled right the way through the season to stay afloat with the budget they have,” said Ryan.

“There is no chance we’re going to under-estimate them, not a chance in the world, because we know they’ve got some players that can hurt you. All we can do is focus on ourselves, regardless of the league table.

“Everyone expects you to give teams down the bottom a good hiding but that’s not the case. It will be a tough game, my players are aware of that and so are the staff. We will go about our business in the right way.”
