Home Draw in the Plate
ARGYLE Ladies have been drawn at home to National League Division One East outfit Stevenage in the quarter final of the National League Plate competition. The tie is scheduled to take place at the Manadon Hub on Sunday, January 26.
Both teams lost their opening League Cup ties, Argyle going down 4-3 at Exeter City, while Stevenage lost 7-0 at home to Yeovil Town. This put both teams in the Plate competition, with Stevenage winning 3-2 at Ipswich Town before beating Maidenhead United 3-2 at home in the second round.
Argyle, meanwhile, won 7-1 at Buckland Athletic before beating visitors Wimbledon 3-1. It is always difficult to compare team records but in Argyle’s case, they have beaten Yeovil Town 5-1 in the league, followed by the 3-1 victory over Wimbledon in this competition, while Stevenage lost 4-2 at home to Wimbledon in a league match.
Stevenage do not have a great record so far in their league but have improved of late, losing just one of their last seven league and cup matches. Argyle will be looking to the boot of top scorer Natasha Knapman, who has already hit 21 goals this season, while Stevenage have relied on captain Amy Makewell, who has struck 12 times.
