Play-Off Places

THE last-ditch victory over Stevenage on Sunday yielded a long-awaited return to the play-off places for Argyle in Sky Bet League Two.

Niall Canavan popped up in the final seconds to bag a 2-1 victory that sees a welcome return to the promotion picture for the Pilgrims, who dropped down a little after a blistering start to the season.

It perfectly sets up the New Year’s Day clash with league-leaders Swindon and a momentous day at Home Park that will see the full opening of the brand new Mayflower Grandstand.

“It’s credit to them [the players], we’ve been knocking on the door,” said manager Ryan Lowe. “We were up there early on, then we faltered a bit, and now we’re back up there. It’s about staying there now. The easy part is getting up there, the hard part is staying up there.

"We take nothing for granted, we’ve got another tough game on Wednesday and we keep on building. Once you get past January and into February, if you are still in there, you give yourself a great chance."
