The Cheltenham Campaign
CHELTENHAM Town enter the Boxing Day fixture against Argyle on the back of a successful season in Sky Bet League Two.
The two sides faced each other at Home Park back in September, when Cheltenham came away with a confident 2-0 win on a frustrating day for the Pilgrims.
The Robins’ season kicked off with a 1-0 away defeat to Leyton Orient but this was quickly rectified with a 4-1 thrashing of Scunthorpe United. Prolific striker Luke Varney helped Cheltenham to a 2-0 win against Carlisle before going on to get the equaliser against Swindon in a 2-2 draw at the end of August.

An impressive recovery of form. A seven-game unbeaten run would follow, featuring that 2-0 defeat of Argyle at Home Park where Varney was on the score sheet yet again.
Whaddon Road has become a fortress for Cheltenham this year, only losing one game at home to table-topping Forest Green Rovers in early November.
Consecutive league draws would follow against Exeter, Colchester and Grimsby before eventually crashing out of the FA Cup 3-1 at home to Port Vale, thanks to an eight-minute hattrick from Tom Pope.
Michael Duff’s side have found their form again recently though, most notably enjoying a 3-0 away win at Mansfield at the beginning of the month.
