Newport 4 Argyle Youth 0

ARGYLE ended a tough EFL Youth Alliance Southern Section campaign with this poor display in Wales and will now have to redeem themselves in Division Two of the Merit League.

The young Pilgrims found themselves a goal down after just six minutes on a difficult pitch and, although Aaron Goulty forced a fine save from the home goalkeeper, it was Newport who were to add to their score.

Goalkeeper Harry Townsend was adjudged to have fouled a home forward as he burst into the area and was promptly beaten from the resultant penalty.

Goulty saw another fine effort saved before the interval but the second half was just two minutes old when Argyle failed to clear a loose ball in their area for Newport to make it 3-0.

Rubin Wilson did put one close-range effort wide of the post before the home side added a fourth five minutes from time.

Argyle: Harry Townsend, Isaac Burdon, Ollie Tomlinson (Jude Boyd 73), Joe Seery (Finley Craske 78), Andy Burn, Sam Wickins, Rhys Fuller, Aaron Goulty, Rubin Wilson, Scott Crocker (Reuben Collum 78), Liam Short.
