ARGYLE play their final fixture in this season’s EFL Youth Alliance at Newport on Saturday before the competition moves on to the Merit League.
The Pilgrims performed superbly in winning 5-1 at Forest Green Rovers last weekend but went down 3-2 at home to Portsmouth in a pulsating midweek fixture at Langsford Park in Tavistock.
There is no game for Argyle in the Carlsberg South-West Peninsula League this weekend, so all focus on the Newport trip and then on to the Merit League, which is when we compete against Academy sides from different regions.
Argyle Ladies welcome Gillingham to Coach Road in Newton Abbot on Sunday for a 2pm kick-off in the FA Women’s Premier League Southern Division.
Helen Bleazard, Panagiota Papaioannou, Steph Beck and Zoe Cunningham are all back in the squad and Argyle will be feeling confident after winning the reverse fixture at Gillingham 4-1.
Following a rare defeat for the development squad last weekend, it is a trip to Feniton on Sunday in the FA Women’s South-West League Western Division, although the Pilgrims will have to contend with a number of injury concerns in their bid to get the title pursuit back on track.
