No.2 Luke McCormick

THE Greatest Pilgrims, voted for by the Green Army, lists the top 25 Argyle legends in all positions and we start with the goalkeepers.

Greatest Pilgrim Goalkeepers
Luke McCormick
Ranked No. 2

Over two long spells at Home Park and 347 appearances, Luke McCormick established himself as one of the greatest Argyle goalkeepers of all time.

A product of the Home Park Academy, Super Luke was given his first team debut in 2001 and would spend the next seven years vying with Romain Larrieu for the number one jersey, as the Pilgrims enjoyed an unprecedented period of two brilliant goalkeepers in the same squad.

Luke’s first spell at Argyle came to an end in 2008. Following four years out of the game, he returned to football with non-league Truro City, from where he moved back into league football with Oxford United.

His football journey took him back to Home Park in 2013 and he would be our undoubted number one for the next four campaigns. Super Luke was, and still is, a brilliant shot-stopper, who produced countless match-winning displays for Argyle.

He was named captain of the club and a major figure in our rebuild from the depths of League Two. Super Luke played his last game for Argyle in December 2017 and after 347 appearances as a Pilgrim, he has earned his place at number two in your list of greatest Argyle goalkeepers.
