Argyle Ladies 2 Cardiff City 3
ARGYLE Ladies came so very close to securing a superb result against a Cardiff City outfit boasting 10 full internationals in their impressive squad.
The Pilgrims fell behind to a stunning strike from Kelly Isaac but quickly regrouped to equalise through the persistence and determination of Zoe Cunningham. Argyle then took control of the game and the waves of pressure got their reward when Jessica Jones scored from distance.
Cardiff entered the game needing a win to keep up the pressure on leaders Coventry United in the FA Women’s Premier League Southern Division and they snatched a leveller through Cori Williams with just nine minutes left on the clock.
A draw looked to be the satisfactory outcome until Cardiff found one final counter and Kylie Nolan volleyed in a cruel winner on the exhausted Greens.
There was another dramatic game for Argyle’s development squad at Feniton Ladies in the FA Women’s South-West League Western Division. Gabi Alphous scored a brace and Kiara Robins was also on target in a 3-2 win for the Pilgrims, who now just need a point from their final game against St Agnes to secure the title.
