Trip to Wimbledon
ARGYLE step back into Central League action with a trip to Wimbledon on Tuesday afternoon for the game at Merstham FC, kick-off is 2.30pm and £5 for admission.
The Pilgrims were unbeaten through the first seven games of the Central League but suffered a hefty reverse at home to MK Dons in their last outing, and first-team coach Kevin Nancekivell is expecting a return to our previous form.
It is another long trip for Argyle, just a few days after the journey to Fleetwood in Sky Bet League One, but life on the road is part of life as a Pilgrim and the focus tomorrow will be on young players proving their worth as potential first-team stars.
“We’ve had a good first half of the campaign in the Central League, despite a disappointing result in the last game, and we’re looking forward to taking on Wimbledon tomorrow,” said Nance.
“We’re used to the travelling, it’s part and parcel of playing at Plymouth Argyle. The boys all have their iPads and things to keep them entertained. It’s not a problem to us and we get on with it.
“The Central League is a perfect opportunity for young professionals to show what they can do in the hope that can bring them closer to the first-team. It is also the time of year when contracts are decided and players fighting for their future.”
