ARGYLE manager Ryan Lowe was in the esteemed company of Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola as a top-table award-winner at the Football Writers Association North West Branch's annual dinner.

Ryan's managerial acheivements were honoured by the FWA, recognising managers from the North West who have done particularly well in the previous year.

Ryan won promotion to League One with Bury last season under the most testing circumstances, and was presented with an inscribed glass football and a bottle of champagne from the FWA's Andy Dunn.

Klopp was rewarded for leading Liverpool to victory over Tottenham in the Champions' League final on June 1, and he attended the dinner with the trophy standing proudly by the top table.

Guardiola was honoured for leading Manchester City to a domestic treble of Premier League, Emirates FA Cup and Carabao Cup. All three trophies were on display at the Radisson Hotel, along with the FA Womens Cup and Continental Trophy, won by Manchester City Women.

While Ryan may have expected to have been in good company at the William Hill-sponsored event, he was surprised to meet a member of the Green Army, Argyle fan Chris Hull, the General Manager of Manchester’s Hotel Football, owened by Manchester United’s Class of '92.

Ryan said: “It was an honour to be part of such a good evening at the Football Writers' Awards. To be on the top table with some fantastic managers, let alone Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola, was something special.

"I would like to thank my staff from last season and the players who contributed to this award.

"Thank you."
