Trophy Permutations

HAVING played all of our Leasing.com Trophy fixtures, although we currently occupy second place, Argyle's qualification to the knock-out phase is not yet assured.

Bristol Rovers host Swindon Town this evening at the Memorial Stadium in what will be the third and final group game for both teams.

Chelsea U21s have already guaranteed their passage to the next round as they have six points. What we also know is that Swindon are out as they are yet to have registered any points so far. Regardless of the outcome this evening, Swindon cannot qualify.

Either Argyle or Bristol Rovers will join Chelsea in the next round. Here are the permutations of tonight’s game

If Swindon were to win outright, they would still finish bottom of the pile but Argyle would qualify with five points. If Rovers win outright, they would qualify as group winners on seven points.

In the event of a draw, an extra bonus point would be contested via a penalty shoot-out; should Swindon win the extra point, Argyle will progress on account of us having a better goal difference and head to head record than the Gas, as we won the bonus point against them following a 1-1 at Home Park earlier in the competition. However, should Rovers win the shoot-out, they will qualify and eliminate Argyle.
