Focus and Awareness

ARGYLE welcome Carlisle United to Home Park this weekend with a focus on our own performance, combined with awareness of the Cumbrians’ strengths and weaknesses.

Wing-back Joe Riley is familiar with some players in the Carlisle squad and, like every team in this division, they will pose a threat at the Theatre of Greens on Saturday, but the Pilgrim priority is all about building momentum.

After a well-earned point at Swindon Town last weekend, the Greens have Carlisle and Leyton Orient visiting Home Park over the next few days, with the ultimate objective of turning good draws into even better victories.

“The game this weekend is a good time to do that [build a run],” said Joe. “That’s what we’re hoping to do and start turning a point into three because that’s promotion form.

“Turning draws into wins is what we need to do to be a successful team. That’s our aim and what we want to do.

“You’ve got to be aware [of opposition strengths] because there are some good teams in this division. I know some of the Carlisle players and they’ve got some good players, so you have to be aware of that.

“It is drummed into us that we have to focus on what we can do and we know that we can compete with any team in this league if we’re at it.

“We don’t look too far forward and we’ve got to take each game as it comes. Carlisle will be a tough task and that’s what we’re all focusing on.”
