Sponsor for George

ARGYLE’S new loan signing George Cooper has the backing of the British Army after being sponsored by former soldier and lifelong Pilgrim fan Matthew Elliott.

It is something of a family tradition to sponsor Argyle players and Matthew is delighted to throw his support behind the exciting talents of Cooper, who recently signed at Home Park from Peterborough.

“I recently came out of the Army and my uncle, who runs Tower Cabs, has sponsored players for years and I thought it would be good thing to do as well,” said Matthew.

“I’ve been an Argyle fan all my life, my dad took me to my first game in 1996 and I think we lost 1-0 to Darlington but been a fan ever since. I spent over 12 years in the Army but still managed to watch Argyle, home and away.

“I’m a season-ticket holder now and I think we’re doing alright so far this season. We’re playing good football and the lads are certainly trying. It’s lovely to see Argyle playing good football.

“From the selection of players available, George Cooper stood out for me. He’s an exciting player for me to sponsor and great to be involved.”
