Welcome Brixham Boys

ARGYLE welcome AFC Brixham Under 11s to Home Park on Saturday, as the Greens take on Oldham Athletic in Sky Bet League Two.

AFC Brixham were formed in June 2012, when Brixham United and Brixham Villa merged. The club joined the South-West Peninsua League Division One East in 2014 and spent five seasons there, finishing third in 2018-19. At the end of that season the league was restructured, and Brixham successfully applied for promotion to the Premier Division East, at Step 6 of the National League System.

The under 11s team that join us this match-day for a tour, training session and chance to play on Home Park’s hallowed turf at half-time are managed by Mike Booth and Kevin Ayling, who started the team three seasons ago at under 8s.

This season the team go from playing 7-aside matches to 9-aside matches and the offside rule has been introduced. The side have played in the Mayflower Cup at Home Park in the last two events and have reached the quarter finals on both occasions.

The lucky squad attending Home Park is as follows: Ben Peddington, Ashton Ingham, Kye Maccrum, Olly Trayhorn (Capt), Joseph Parry, Sam Court, Daniel Ayling, Sonny Jarvis, Freddie Foster, Jenson Booth, Oliver Buckley and Thomas Ayling.

Brixham’s Number 9 Freddie has been playing for the Plymouth Argyle Community side for the last season and manager Mike Booth said: “The lads always look forward to coming to watch Argyle, and are over the moon to have the opportunity to play at half time in front of the big crowd.”
