Potts' Stroll to Stardom

Tom Potts, 71, has been an ever-present member of the Argyle Community Trust walking football team for the past four years.

An avid former local footballer, he found a renewed love for playing the game in the walking format, working with our coaches at Manadon Sports and Community Hub.

After representing the Trust, and Argyle, at numerous tournaments and fixtures across the country with great success, Tom has been selected to play for the national over-70 walking football squad.

Tom attended trials in Sutton Coldfield back in February, impressing the selectors. Only COVID-19 put a hold on his hopes to represent the Three Lions, with an international fixture versus Wales was postponed.

Now, though, with the game back underway, Tom is heading back to the training camp in the coming weeks and is hoping to gain his first England cap in the near future. Tom is also back to training here in Plymouth, twice a week at Manadon. A very well-deserved congratulations from everyone at Argyle Community Trust, Tom and we look forward to hearing more about Tom's England debut!
