Ladies Game Free Admission
THE semi-final tie of the Devon Senior Cup between Argyle Ladies and Buckland Athletic will now take place at Marjon University on Wednesday for a 7.30pm kick-off and admission is free.
The original tie at Homers Heath on Sunday was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. Argyle beat Buckland 3-2 to retain the cup for the 13th time last season. The winners will play Exeter City in the final in April after the Grecians beat Marine Academy Plymouth 9-0 in the other semi-final.
The Argyle management had pre-empted the possible postponement of the original fixture but work behind the scenes ensured that the tie would take place at Marjon once Buckland agreed to the switch.
There was a fear that the tie would have had to be played on Sunday but thankfully the clubs agreed to the switch. This mean’s Argyles National League Plate quarter final tie at home to Stevenage on Sunday can go ahead as planned.
Manager Dave Leonard has a dilemma in that he is down to 12 fit players for the tie as competition rules mean that he has a limited number of players who are eligible to play. Leonard said: “It is what it is, we have to go with what we have got and, if we haven't got the players registered, we have to get on with it.”
Fans are advised that admission is free and it would be fantastic to welcome the Green Army to Marjon tomorrow night.
