eSports Team Launched

PLYMOUTH Argyle is delighted to announce the launch of our own eSports team.

The team will play FIFA 20, specifically the Pro Clubs 11v11 mode, representing Argyle in the Virtual Pro Gaming League – pitting their gaming chops against other serious players from around the country.

The club is excited to be launching a new competitive gaming team, and our Head of Marketing, Jamie Yabsley, feels it is a fantastic opportunity to promote the unique Argyle brand not just to existing supporters, but a whole new global audience, too.

“eSports is a massive industry and provides access to a market full of dedicated football fans,” said Jamie. “FIFA is one of the most popular games out there, it feels like a great opportunity for us as we look to develop our brand on and off the pitch.”

The eSport industry attracted a whopping 380 million global viewers in 2018, and that figure is projected to grow to 557 million by 2021.

Players who make it through our trials will proudly represent the Green Army on the virtual field as they compete against teams from other clubs based across the country. The newly-formed team will be open to all FIFA PlayStation 4 players who are interested, and trials for the team will be held in the near future.
