iFollow: An Apology
WE apologise for the issues that impacted our live iFollow video coverage of the 3-0 Sky Bet League Two victory over Grimsby Town on Tuesday night.
Unfortunately, a number of unusual issues, largely technical in nature, contributed to first-half problems with the audio feed on our live video coverage. In delivering a solution to restore match commentary, a secondary issue developed, which briefly affected the visual presentation and did not allow us to broadcast in-game action replays.
Our iFollow production team, as a matter of course, operates extensive pre-match testing of all equipment to ensure that it is in good working order before kick-off. A technical check at 7.15pm did not identify any issues, although we appreciate that this was not the case as the feed went live.
“This combination of technical issues is unlikely to ever be repeated, but we have learned some very important lessons and we will ensure that the same combination will not arise again,” said Rick Cowdery, the club’s Head of Communications.
Argyle is one of only two clubs in the lower leagues to have experimented with, and indeed, delivered, four-camera coverage for all home fixtures – including first-team, Central League and Premier League Cup matches – and the club will continue to make improvements to our iFollow offering.
However, with greater sophistication of coverage comes greater risk of technical issues, and we appreciate the Green Army’s patience when things occasionally go awry.
Rick said: “The club’s Vision and Values sets out our desire to strive for excellence, and we will continue to do so with iFollow. In many ways, we are breaking new ground this season for live Argyle coverage, and hope to build an unparalleled service for our supporters around the world.”
