Will Getting Close
SATURDAY’S Sky Bet League Two fixture against Macclesfield may come too soon for two of our longer-term injury absentees but manager Ryan Lowe is hopeful that Josh Grant and Will Aimson are close to returning to fitness.
Defender Will, who has not played in the league since the 1-1 draw with Swindon at the County Ground in October, is back training again after a lengthy lay-off due to a hip injury. He trained fully yesterday an part of his ongoing recovery under the guidance of physio Dave Galley and head of fitness and conditioning John Lucas.
It is a slightly different situation for on-loan midfielder Josh Grant, as he returned to parent-club Chelsea, who will oversee his rehabilitation before returning to Home Park.
Ryan said: “Will is training again, he has done a lot of work with John and Dave, and [yesterday] was his first full training session with the lads. Saturday will be too soon for him but then train next week.
“I’m excited for Will, looking forward to having him back involved and I know he’s chomping at the bit. In the times the fans have already seen him play, they’ve seen what he’s got and that was probably only at 70% fit. A full 100% fit Will Aimson will be a real asset.
“[As for Josh], they [Chelsea] have got all the stuff for scans, he’s doing his rehab with them and will be back with us to train next week.”
