22/23 Fixtures Announced

The Greens will begin their 22/23 Sky Bet League One campaign with a home tie against newly relegated Barnsley on Saturday, 30 July.

For the second consecutive season, Argyle travel to Cheltenham Town on Boxing Day, with the return of the Devon Derby against Exeter City scheduled for Saturday, 29 October at Home Park, and Saturday, 15 April at St James Park.

Steven Schumacher’s side will make their first away trip of the season on Saturday, 6 August, visiting Fleetwood Town, before the first round of the Carabao Cup – which will be drawn later on fixture release day – in midweek.

The Greens then return to Home Park to take on another newcomer to the division in Peterborough United, before back-to-back away trips at Charlton Athletic and League Two champions Forest Green Rovers in the space of a week.

August is rounded off with a home tie against Bolton Wanderers, before a trip to Pride Park to take on Wayne Rooney’s Derby County. A tasty home double-header follows against two of last season’s fellow play-off contenders, with Sheffield Wednesday and Oxford United visiting Home Park on Saturday, 10 September and Tuesday, 13 September. The Greens’ September schedule ends with a trip to fellow south coast outfit Portsmouth and a home tie against Ipswich Town on 24 September.

Six fixtures await in October, beginning with a trip to Wycombe Wanderers and a home tie against Accrington Stanley. Back-to-back away trips follow at Milton Keynes Dons and Bristol Rovers, with two consecutive home games after that to close out the month, against Shrewsbury Town and Exeter City.

A quirk of scheduling sees no home league game pencilled in during November, and only two away league fixtures – at Lincoln City and Burton Albion. The month is bookended by the first and second rounds of the Emirates FA Cup.

December begins with Argyle hosting Port Vale, before a trip to Cambridge United. The final fixture ahead of the festive period sees the Greens host Morecambe, before a trip to the Jonny-Rocks Stadium against Cheltenham Town on Boxing Day. The Greens play the remainder of the festive schedule at home, with Wycombe Wanderers visiting Home Park on the evening of Thursday, 29 December, and Milton Keynes Dons travelling to Devon on New Year’s Day.

The Greens will travel to Accrington Stanley on Saturday, 7 January, although this fixture will be rearranged if either side makes it to the third round of the Emirates FA Cup. An away fixture against Ipswich Town and home ties against Cheltenham Town and Derby County follow.

February kicks off with a trip to Hillsborough to face Sheffield Wednesday, followed by a home clash with Portsmouth, and a trip to Oxford United in midweek. Fleetwood Town then visit Home Park, before a journey to Peterborough United.

March begins with a home tie against Charlton Athletic and then a trip to Oakwell to take on Barnsley. Forest Green Rovers then visit the Theatre of Greens for a first-ever league meeting between the two sides at Home Park, before a trip to Bolton Wanderers.

The penultimate month of the season begins with a Westcountry derby against Bristol Rovers at Home Park, before the traditional Good Friday and Easter Monday fixtures – which are away at Morecambe and home to Lincoln City, respectively. The Greens make their shortest trip of the season to face Exeter City on Saturday, 15 April, followed by a visit to Shrewsbury Town three days later.

Two of our final three fixtures are at home, with Cambridge United visiting Devon on Saturday, 22 April, and Burton Albion rounding off the regular season at Home Park. The Greens will head to Port Vale on Saturday, 6 May, for their season finale.

Please note: These fixtures are in draft stage, and further amendments may be made by the EFL in the coming days.
