50/50 Lottery donate funds to Argyle Women ahead of FAWNL Cup

Argyle Women celebrate at Home Park.

We are very grateful to the 50/50 Lottery for a very generous donation of £12,500 to the Argyle Women’s team.

Despite the sporting achievement of getting to the FAWNL Cup final, prize money in the competition is of a relatively low value, so the Greens’ route to the final two – three group games and four knockout ties, which have included trips to Bristol Rovers, Watford and Lewes – has been at a financial cost.

Marie Hourihan’s Greens will now travel to London to face AFC Bournemouth in the final of the competition on Saturday, 28 March, at Loftus Road, the home of Queens Park Rangers.

Christian Kent, Executive Lead for Women’s Football at Argyle, said: “The donation from the 50/50 is a very generous gesture, and we cannot thank them enough for their support for our team ahead of our important cup final next month.

“This will help ensure that travel and preparations ahead of the game can continue at the highest of standards, so we thank them hugely for their support with this match and throughout the season.

“Hopefully we can bring back some silverware, too!”

Argyle Women are next in action on Wednesday, 18 February, for a Devon Derby against Exeter City, for which entry is FREE. Find out more, here
