Argyle Academy goalkeeper Tom Armytage has been called up for England Under-15s ahead of their FIFA World Cup campaign.

The youngster forms part of an elite squad heading to Azerbaijan representing the Young Lions and looking to progress in the tournament.

Armytage will meet up with his England teammates in London, before flying to Baku.

The keeper will be hoping to feature in any of their five opening group games against Nicaragua, Montenegro, Cambodia, Republic of Ireland and Zimbabwe.

The group concludes on Monday, October 26, with the final taking place on Friday, October 30.

Argyle's Academy Manager Phil Stokes, said: “We're delighted for Tom to receive a call-up to represent England at the Under-15s World Cup. It is a fantastic achievement for him and a reflection of the hard work he's put in throughout his development.

"Everyone at the Academy is incredibly proud to see him recognised on the international stage. Rhys Wilmot, our Under-18s Goalkeeping Coach, has also done a great job in supporting the development of our young keepers, and it's great to see that work contributing to opportunities like this.

"We wish Tom, and England, the very best of luck at the tournament."

Good luck from everyone at Argyle, Tom!
