Academy players Sharpe and Armytage receive international call-ups

Academy players James Sharpe and Thomas Armytage.

Academy players James Sharpe and Thomas Armytage have received call-ups to Malta’s Under-17s squad and England’s Under-15s squad, respectively.

Sharpe, who has featured several times for the Under-18s this season, has been invited to a Malta training camp, with the possibility of being selected as part of their squad heading to Luxembourg for two friendly games later in the month.

As for Armytage, the young goalkeeper will represent the Three Lions as the only Category 3 player in the side, surrounded by top-level talent.

Thomas will join up with the rest of his teammates on Saturday, before heading out to Cyprus on Tuesday, 10 February, with the game kicking off at 11am.

Four days later, England will have their second test of the trip, playing the United States of America on Saturday, 14 February. The game will kick off at 10am at the Sotira Municipal Stadium.

Phil Stokes, Academy Manager at Argyle, said: “This is a fantastic achievement for both James and Thomas, and a testament to the hard work they put in every week on and off the pitch. We are incredibly proud of them both and everyone involved in their development, and we look forward to seeing them embrace the opportunity and experience.”

Go well, James and Thomas!
