Argyle Under-18s put their FA Youth Cup disappointment behind them to completely outplay their Welsh hosts at the Newport International Sports Village.

Goals from Oscar Halls, Kieran Edworthy, Will Jenkins Davies and Caleb Roberts gave Argyle a four-goal lead at the break. Edworthy added his second of the game near the hour mark, with Freddie Issaka capping the victory in injury time.

Before the scoring got going, Argyle survived a scare when Zak Baker made a superb early save, but were soon on top, with the opening goal coming on 24 minutes.

A free-kick on the left was blocked initially, but when the ball in on the second occasion, Issaka flicked on and Halls headed home from close range.

Nine minutes later it was two, as Jack Endacott’s high cross was won by Jenkins Davies, with Edworthy striking a controlled half-volley home first time as the ball dropped.

Just before the 45 minute mark Jenkins Davies got in on the act himself, driving home a stunning left-foot effort from 20 yards, and in a lengthy stoppage time period because of an injury to a Newport player, Argyle turned the ball over, and Roberts prodded home.

Argyle continued to dominate after the break and it was no surprise when Lewis Colwell's 58th minute precise cross found Edworthy rising highest to nod in his second of the game.

It took until added time in the second half for a sixth to be added, but when it came it was a cracker. Issaka collected the ball in the centre and powered forward, leaving toiling County defenders in his wake, then coolly slotting into the bottom corner of the net.

Argyle: Zak Baker (James Morley 70), Lewis Colwell, Cole Gibbings (Cole Fisher 85), Finley Wilkes, Oscar Halls (capt), Jack Matthews (Jensen Ireland 61), Caleb Roberts, Will Jenkins Davies, Kieran Edworthy (Henry Donovan 70), Freddie Issaka, Jack Endacott.
