Four exciting roles have opened up to join the Pilgrims’ ambitious and forward-thinking Academy set up.

With the Argyle Academy taking a central position in the club’s publicly stated aim to become a sustainable Championship club, there has never been a better time for suitable candidates to further their careers at Home Park.

We are on the lookout for a Foundation Phase Lead Coach, a Youth Development Phase Age Group Coach,  a Head of Academy Sports Science, and an Academy Sports Therapist.

The Foundation Phase Lead Coach (full-time) will primarily focus on developing and educating our under-7 to under-12 players on a daily basis. It is critical that the successful applicant understands the FA, EFL and Premier League rules as well as developing players using the FA’s 4 Corner Model – establishing an individual learning plan for each player in line with the club’s review process as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Candidates must hold the UEFA B License, FA Youth Award and preferably completed or working towards the FA’s Advanced Youth Award 5-11. We are also looking for experience within a professional football club and in a busy and fast paced environment, together with experience of player development and an ability to lead a team.

Meanwhile, the Youth Development Phase Age Group Coach (part-time) must have a strong work ethic, ability to work two to three evenings a week and weekends, and have knowledge and experience of coaching players from under-12 to under-14. Candidates must also hold the UEFA B License coaching qualification, alongside the FA Youth Award and completion of the FA Safeguarding workshop. Candidates must also hold the FA Level 2 Emergency First Aid in Football qualification, or be willing to work towards one within six months of taking up the position.

The Head of Academy Sports Science (full-time) will monitor and track players’ progress through regular fitness testing across the age groups. Knowledge and experience in devising Strength and Conditioning programmes, nutrition guidance and advice, monitoring player loading through GPS, assisting the medical department with rehabilitation programmes, and growth and maturation reports is essential. The successful candidate will also be expected to establish an individual learning plan for each player in line with the club’s review process as part of a multi- disciplinary team.

Candidates must hold either the UKSCA or BASES accreditation and a BSc or MSc degree in sport science or relevant area. We are also looking for experience within a professional football club and in a busy and fast paced environment.

The Academy Sports Therapist (part-time) will support our medical department in the Foundation and Youth Development Phase, as well as our Elite Coaching Hubs in Penryn and Bodmin. This is an important role in supporting the assessment and treatment of players within our Academy training and matchday programme. It is critical that the successful applicant understands how to support players within any potential injuries in line with the club’s Emergency Action Plans.

Candidates must hold either a BSc or MSc in Physiotherapy or Sports Therapy and be willing to work towards Intermediate Trauma Medical Management in Football (ITMMiF) completion within the first three months of taking up the position. We are also looking for experience within a professional football club and in a busy and fast paced environment.

Plymouth Argyle Football Club is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This role involves the supervision of and working with children and young people. As the role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, the applicant must disclose all previous convictions including spent convictions.
