Argyle Academy are recruiting for two critical and important roles within the programme at Home Park.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Part-Time Lead Academy Strength & Conditioning Coach to support the delivery of our long-term athletic development programme across the Academy. As well as this, we are also looking to recruit a committed and enthusiastic Academy Physiotherapist/Sports Therapist - Casual to provide pitch-side medical support and rehabilitation services across our Academy programme.

Vacancy: Lead Academy Strength & Conditioning Coach - Part Time

Working alongside the Head of Academy Medical & Performance and wider multidisciplinary team, you will help design and deliver evidence-based athletic development programmes that enhance movement quality, physical performance, injury resilience and long-term player development.

This role provides an outstanding opportunity for an ambitious practitioner looking to gain experience within an elite football academy while contributing to an innovative and collaborative performance department.

Essential requirements

  • BSc in Strength & Conditioning, Sport & Exercise Science or related discipline.
  • FA Introduction to First Aid in Football.
  • FA Safeguarding qualification.
  • Excellent understanding of youth athletic development.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver athletic development sessions for Academy players from U9-U18.
  • Plan and deliver age-appropriate gym and pitch-based physical development programmes.
  • Monitor player growth, maturation and physical development.
  • Support physical testing, GPS monitoring and performance profiling.
  • Deliver warm-ups, activation, movement preparation and recovery sessions.
  • Work collaboratively with coaching, medical and analysis staff to support Individual
  • Development Plans (IDPs).
  • Assist in developing educational resources for players, parents and staff.
  • Maintain accurate performance records and contribute to departmental reporting.
  • Ensure all practices align with the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP) and Academy Performance Plan.

Vacancy: Academy Physiotherapist/Sports Therapist - Casual

Working closely with the Head of Academy Medical & Performance, you will play an important role in delivering high-quality medical care for Academy players, supporting injury prevention, assessment, treatment and return-to-play processes.

This role offers excellent exposure within an elite football environment and is ideal for practitioners looking to develop their experience within professional football.

Essential requirements

  • Degree in Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy or Sports Rehabilitation.
  • HCPC registration (Physiotherapists) or appropriate professional membership.
  • FA Intermediate Trauma Medical Management in Football (or willingness to complete).
  • FA Safeguarding qualification (or willingness to complete).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide pitch-side emergency medical cover for Academy training sessions and fixtures.
  • Assess, treat and rehabilitate Academy players following injury.
  • Deliver evidence-based rehabilitation programmes.
  • Assist with injury prevention initiatives and player screening.
  • Maintain accurate medical records using the club's medical systems.
  • Liaise effectively with coaches, parents, players and the wider multidisciplinary team.
  • Attend Academy medical meetings and CPD events.
  • Operate in accordance with FA, EPPP and Club medical standards, policies and Emergency Action Plans.
