Argyle can today confirm the appointment of Paul Berne as the club’s new Chief Executive Officer.

Paul joins Argyle following the departure of Andrew Parkinson and will officially begin his new role on 1 January.

The 51-year-old was most recently CEO at Trewithen Dairy and brings extensive experience across finance and operations. He has also served on the Argyle board since 2019, providing valuable counsel and experience.

Paul worked at club partners Ginsters for four and a half years as Finance Director and had a further two years at their parent company Samworth Brothers in a similar role.

Prior to that, he held high-level roles at Well Pharmacy, the Co-operative Pharmacy, and the wider Co-operative Group.

Upon confirmation of his appointment, Chairman Simon Hallett commented: “Paul brings a wealth of experience to the role having held several high-level positions across a range of sectors.

“He has been an important and valued Board member since 2019 and will now step into a permanent role with the club following Andrew’s departure.

“He will bring a freshness and energy to the role that will lift the whole club as we continue the rebuild both on and off the pitch.

“I want to welcome Paul to Argyle in his new role and look forward to seeing him build on the excellent work Andrew implemented before him.”

New Argyle Chief Executive Officer, Paul Berne, added: “It is a privilege to take up this role with Argyle.

“Having been involved at Board level since 2019, I have seen first-hand the transformation the club has been under both on and off the pitch under Andrew’s leadership.

“I now have the opportunity to continue that work using my background and expertise, and help Argyle continue to excel.

“The club has huge potential, and it is now my job to help realise our ambitions to be a sustainable Championship club.

“Whilst I don’t officially start until 1 January, I’ll be around the club a lot, transitioning from my role as a Director to Chief Executive. In the interim, the club's Executive Team, along with my fellow board directors, will continue to oversee day-to-day activities.”

You can hear from Paul for the first time as Chief Executive Officer, in an interview on Argyle TV at 6.30pm tonight.
