We are proud to join clubs across the leagues in celebrating 'Raised in the EFL'.
Taking place between 11–25 September, Raised in the EFL shines a light on the great work taking place at our club and across the EFL to develop the next generation of footballing talent.
We wanted to take this opportunity to spotlight some of our current Academy success stories, beginning with Seb Campbell.
The 17-year-old made his senior debut for the Greens last season in the EFL Trophy against Tottenham Hotspur Under-21s. In his standout performance, Campbell added Argyle's sixth goal, becoming the Pilgrims' youngest-ever scorer at 16 years and 279 days.
We are also celebrating Tegan Finn, who on Monday joined Torquay United on loan in the next stage of his development. Like Campbell, Finn starred in the EFL Trophy, scoring three times and assisting twice in last season's edition. He made his debut in 2024, coming off the bench against Leeds United at Elland Road, and has since made a further 23 appearances.
Another of our Academy graduates to head out on loan to Torquay this season is Caleb Roberts. The 20-year-old made his senior debut as a substitute in the EFL Trophy against Arsenal Under-21s in 2021, he made his first start 11 months later in the same competition against Crystal Palace Under-21s.
The central midfielder has made 30 appearances for Argyle, featuring in both the Sky Bet Championship and League One, as well as in various cup competitions. Many supporters will remember his impressive performance against Brentford in the Emirates FA Cup, when he started alongside Adam Randell at Gtech Community Stadium, and played the entire game as Argyle saw off their Premier League opposition.
When Freddie Issaka made his senior debut for Argyle in 2021 against Newport County in the EFL Trophy, he became the club's youngest-ever player at just 15 years and 34 days old. In the half-decade that has passed since then, the tricky winger has made 40 first-team appearances. He netted his first goal for the Greens in 2024 against Preston North End in the Championship as Argyle came back from 3-0 down to draw the game.
The former Wales youth international was loaned to Bristol Rovers last season, where he made seven appearances in League Two before a temporary spell at Truro City, in which he scored twice for the Tinners. Now, Issaka makes the 408-mile journey to Gateshead for another loan switch, a move that will not only offer him regular first-team minutes, but a chance to develop important life skills so far away from home.
