Argyle Women have signed versatile defender Libby Gimson from Bridgwater United.
The 20-year-old spent part of her childhood with the Pilgrims, progressing through the club’s youth setup before leaving at the age of 15 to join Bridgwater, where she has spent the past five years.
During her time with the Robins, Gimson won the Under-16 Somerset County Cup, before stepping up to the Under-21s and subsequently making her first-team debut.
She has primarily featured as a centre-back at Bridgwater, but has the ability to play in midfield, adding further versatility to Argyle’s squad.
Gimson will be eligible for selection immediately, and could make her debut in Wednesday’s Devon derby against Exeter City at St James Park.
Speaking on Gimson’s signing, Argyle Head Coach Matt Green said: “We’re really pleased to bring Libby into the squad. She spent time at the club as a youngster, so it’s great to welcome her back after four years at Bridgwater, where she has developed and gained valuable experience. We’re looking forward to what she can bring to the squad.
”Libby has mostly played in defence but can also do a job in midfield, which gives us another option. It’s great timing too as she will be available for tonight’s game against Exeter, which gives her the opportunity to come straight into the group and get involved.”
