Argyle Win Utilita Performance of the Week Award
Argyle, and manager Steven Schumacher, have been awarded the Utilita Performance of the Week award for the 2-1 win over Ipswich Town.
The Greens fell 1-0 down to former Pilgrim Freddie Ladapo’s goal, but strikes from Bali Mumba and Morgan Whittaker gave Argyle three points, in a game shown live on Sky Sports. The win also sent Schumacher’s side to the top of Sky Bet League One.
The League Managers Association’s panel, comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Chris Hughton, Rachel Yankey, Les Ferdinand, Clare Tomlinson, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, decided that the dramatic game was a reward-worthy one.
“It is really nice to be given this award in recognition for the win on Sunday," said Schumacher. "It was an excellent game, a terrific advert for League One football, and we had to show great character to come from behind against a very good Ipswich side.
“For it to send us top of the league was special, too. Now, we want to continue to work hard so we can enjoy many more games like that one.”
