Argyle Women End of Season Celebration

An End of Season Celebration event will be held for Argyle Women at Home Park on the night of Sunday, 22 May, and tickets are available now.

In their first full season under the wing of the Argyle Community Trust, and with a stronger than ever package of support from the club, Argyle Women have taken a big leap forward as an organisation.

The Greens, who play the majority of their home fixtures at the Trust’s Manadon Sports & Community Hub, endured a challenging start to the campaign as they integrated a number of new and returning players into a young squad which struggled in the FA Women’s National League last season.

However, dedicated work on the training ground has been mirrored with results on the field, and a strong uptick in form, including three successive wins, has seen Ryan Perks’ side charge out of the relegation zone, as well as enjoy a run to the Vitality FA Cup fourth round – where they lost out to professional outfit Charlton Athletic.

The long-term signs are strong, too. The team’s commitment to a philosophy of developing young local talent has seen the likes of Cornish youngster Mari Ward breaking into the first team at the age of 16, while earning a call up to play for England at youth level. Meanwhile, Welsh goalkeeper Poppy Soper’s heroics have seen her sign for European giants Chelsea on a dual registration deal.

The event includes a delicious finger food buffet, end of season awards ceremony, and the opportunity to meet and chat with members of the Argyle Women’s squad.

Tickets cost £30 and are available from the Home Park Ticket Office during opening hours, by calling 01752 907700, or from argyletickets.com.
