Argyle will face Swindon Town, Newport County and one Premier League under-21 side in the group stage of the 2026/27 EFL Trophy.
We will find out our final Group E opponent on Thursday, 25 June, when the remaining Premier League under-21 sides are drawn live on Sky Sports, from 2.30pm. Argyle will be drawn with one of: Arsenal, Brentford, Brighton & Hove Albion, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Fulham, Ipswich Town or Tottenham Hotspur.
Tom Cleverley's Pilgrims reached the quarter-final of the competition last season, bowing out to eventual winners Luton Town.
It has been nearly four years since the Greens last faced Swindon in the Trophy. That evening Argyle won 3-1 at The Nigel Eady County Ground. Will Jenkins-Davies, Oscar Halls and Ryan Hardie were all on the scoresheet.
The Greens’ last encounter with Newport was in August 2021. It was a 2-0 defeat for a youthful Argyle side at Rodney Parade, but still a night to remember. Freddie Issaka came off the bench to make his senior debut for the Pilgrims, and in doing so became the youngest player to feature in a first-team fixture for Plymouth Argyle.
Fixture information for the EFL Trophy will be announced in due course.
