Caitlin Smith has penned a new deal at Home Park ahead of the upcoming FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division season.
The defender joined the Greens, having most recently played for Reading in the now Women’s Super League 2, at the start of last season, and went on to feature 25 times for Argyle.
A consistent name on the team sheet, Smith’s leadership and confidence as a defender were on show many times at the Theatre of Greens, and will now be seen again under new Head Coach Marie Hourihan.
The 22-year-old has signed in time for Argyle’s opening match of the season against Hashtag United on Sunday, 17 August, and she cannot wait to return to Home Park and play in front of the Green Army again.
“I'm very excited to be back,” Smith told Argyle TV. “I think there’s some unfinished business from last year, so I’m buzzing to get going. I spoke to a couple of the coaching staff before coming in to have a look and see what the set-up is like this year with all the change over the summer.
“I came in on my first day, spoke to Marie, and instantly gravitated towards coming back. Everything is so positive in the way that she's speaking about this year, and how excited she is, makes me excited as well to come back and see what we can do.
“Home Park is probably one of the best stadiums that I have played at. The grass is unbelievable and so nice and crisp to play on. Last year, it was a real privilege to get to play here.
“We went in with high expectations last season, but I don't quite think we fulfilled our potential. In the league, we want to come back this year and do much better, and I think with the team we've got now and Marie coming in, that's something we can definitely do.”
