Excitement is building for Argyle Women, who have a chance to be crowned The ClickHub Devon Women’s Premier Cup champions.

The Greens play Exeter City at Coach Road, the home of the Devon County Football Association, this Friday, 21 April, at 7.15pm.

Argyle convincingly beat Marine Academy Plymouth and Budleigh Salterton on the way to Friday’s final, and manager Ryan Perks has been pleased by how clinical his team have been.

“This season we’ve given a good account of ourselves in domestic cups,” said Perks. “We’ve got to take positives from those performances going into the final. The girls and the staff are looking forward to the game, and hopefully bringing the county cup back to Plymouth.”

Exeter will be looking to overturn last season’s defeat in the final to Torquay United, who won on penalties. Exeter are currently in good form; they are top of the FAWNL Division One South West – one division lower that Argyle - winning their last five matches in the build-up to the final.

Although a Devon Derby, Perks is keen to treat the game as any other, and to not allow any distractions to consume the dressing room in their attempt to get the job done.

“We’ve played Exeter a few times since I’ve been at the club,” he said. “They’ve always been close and competitive games, and we expect the same on Friday.

“We know we are capable of coming away with the result, if we focus and execute the game plan. Exeter have had a great season and full credit to them. It’s a case of turning up on the day and playing a game of football rather than playing for the occasion. If we can do that, I’m confident we can come away with the result.”

The final will be played at Coach Road. Tickets cost £5 whilst concessions cost £3. If you cannot make it to the game, you can follow live updates on twitter at @ArgyleWFC. The game will also be streamed live on the Devon FA’s Facebook page.
