Double England call up
Academy players Freddie Issaka and Harry McGlinchey have received call-ups to the England under-16 and under-15 squads respectively.
Issaka, who has already played for Wales under-16s this season, has been included in the England squad to play a double header with Turkey on Monday 20 and Wednesday 22, December.
Both games will be played at St Georges Park, with the game on Monday kicking off at 3pm and the Wednesday fixture starting at midday.
The Truro School pupil became the youngest player in Argyle’s history when he came on as a substitute in the Greens’ 2-0 loss to Newport County AFC in the Papa John’s Trophy back in August.
Since then, he has been a regular in Darren Way’s under-18 side and was a scorer for Wales in their Victory Shield win over Northern Ireland in October.
As for McGlinchey, the under-15 midfielder has been called up to an England training camp at St Georges Park for the very first time.
The name may ring a bell with Argyle supporters as Harry is the son of former Pilgrims’ defender and current Argyle TV pundit, Brian McGlinchey.
Harry will join up with his teammates and coaches on Saturday, 18 December and will spend three days on the camp.
Academy manager Phil Stokes said, “We are really proud and pleased for both Freddie and Harry to receive international recognition.
“This is an excellent opportunity for both players to attend an England training camp at St George’s Park.
“It’s a terrific achievement for the club and demonstrates the good work going on throughout our Academy programme"
Congratulations Freddie and Harry.
