Argyle Academy at Arsenal

Evergreen at the Gunners

Talented young players from the Argyle Academy took their football education to a new level over the half-term break, and it was all down to the support of Evergreen members.

The Under-9 to Under-14 age groups travelled to Arsenal’s iconic training facility for a round of fixtures that will live long in the memory.

This is the second set of matches played against a Category 1 Academy made possible by funding from Evergreen, following on from the fantastic trip to Chelsea in January.

“Playing against Arsenal was another brilliant experience for our young players, the coaches and the parents,” said Argyle Academy Manager Phil Stokes.

“We have always had the ambition to expand and develop our games programme within the Academy and the support of Evergreen is helping to make this a reality.

“We want our young players to embrace different challenges and games against clubs like Chelsea and Arsenal is very special for everyone involved. Academy football is a journey and the young players represented Argyle with great pride.

“While we obviously want the players to enjoy the experience, it was pleasing to see our age groups compete against a top Academy and they were also able to learn to play at a higher intensity.

“From everyone involved in the Academy, thank-you Evergreen members.”
