Tegan Finn has signed his first professional contract with the club, penning a three-year deal.
Finn, one of the shining lights of Argyle’s academy, has been a regular feature in Head Coach Tom Cleverley’s squad this season and has now committed his future to his boyhood club.
The 17-year-old made his professional debut when still a scholar, away at Leeds United, and has since made a further seven first-team appearances.
Argyle Head Coach Tom Cleverley is thrilled to secure the future of Finn and said: “Tegan was someone I was aware of before I joined the club. Wayne (Rooney) spoke very highly of him and obviously gave him his debut as well.
“Since I’ve been at the club, I have seen the talent he has at his disposal first hand, and it is brilliant news for the football club that one of our key Academy products has decided to stay.
“There’s been lots of speculation around his future, and it’s not surprising because he is a very talented footballer, but it is a credit to the pathway we have at the football club that he sees his future with Argyle.”
Argyle first-team coach Kevin Nancekivell added: “Tegan is someone who has been with the football club since the age of 6 and progressed all the way through the academy.
“I have seen first-hand his development over the years and the hard work that has got him to this point. That doesn’t stop now though, and he needs to work harder than ever to continue his growth and impact the first team.
“It is a testament to all the staff at the Academy for helping him get to this point but also a testament to Tegan himself and I look forward to working closely with him as he continues to develop over the coming years.”
