At our recent first-team game against Sunderland, we welcomed five new recruits to the Argyle Academy.

Pictured above with first-year pro and academy graduate Will Jenkins Davies, they are:

Jacob Rowe (Under-9s) – an aspiring goalkeeper based in Plymouth, hoping to follow in the footsteps of Michael Cooper. Signed from Elburton Villa, his two older brothers (Isaac and Ethan) are also part of the Academy.

Oliver Blackledge (Under-10s) – another in a long line of players recruited from the Saints Southwest programme, Oliver is based in Torquay and is a strong left-footed player.

Benjamin Glendinning (Under-10s) – progressed from our strong and ever improving pathway, he began his journey at our North Devon Centre of Excellence, referred by Liam Bryant (Centre Manager). Benjamin trialled last season as an Under-9, and although unsuccessful at the time, has proven that going back into the pathway and working hard can stand you in good stead.

Joshua Poole (Under-13s) – based in Crediton, Joshua is a strong, athletic and calm central defender with excellent leadership qualities. Spotted playing for his local grassroots team Crediton Youth by Head of Academy Recruitment Adam Hayman, before coming in for a trial.

Joe Rapson (Under-15s) – based in Plymouth, another player who has progressed into the Academy from local team MAP. A well-rounded forward who has also been a member of Plymouth District Schools team

Adam Hayman, Head of Academy Recruitment, said: "I'm a delighted to welcome all five boys into the Academy. Each player's journey is very different, with their talents either identified and nurtured within our pathway, or identified by our fantastic team of scouts playing for their local grassroots club.

"Their journey is now in their own hands, and we look forward to supporting them on and off the pitch as part of our Academy."
