Freddie scores for Wales
Academy striker Freddie Issaka scored the opening goal of the game as his Wales under-16 side beat hosts Northern Ireland 2-0 in the opening game of this year’s Victory Shield, in Belfast.
The 15-year-old, who is Argyle’s youngest ever player, nipped in-front of the Northern Ireland goalkeeper to slot the ball into an empty net after 21 minutes.
As well as his goal, Freddie proved to be a key member of the Welsh side which included Ryan Giggs’ son, Zach.
He was replaced in the second half by Norwich City youngster Elliot Myles who went on to get the second goal in injury time.
Freddie and his Wales side will now play the Republic of Ireland for a 3pm kick off on Tuesday, 19 October before playing their final game against Scotland three days later.
