Ginsters extend partnership with Argyle & Community Trust

Ginsters

We are delighted to announce that Ginsters has signed a new two-year deal to continue vital partnership work with Plymouth Argyle and Argyle Community Trust, committing a further two years in our fight against poverty and supporting those most vulnerable in our communities.

The new deal sees long-term partners Ginsters, a partnership dating back to 2002, remain as the back-of-shirt sponsors for the men’s team and as the headline partners for our award-winning community impact initiative, Project 35.

The Cornish pastry company have set a new ambitious target to deliver 250,000 meals to those experiencing food insecurity across Plymouth, Devon, and Cornwall, and will also become the main sponsors of the café at The Hub at Foulston Park. The café partnership will support those in need through community connection, food, and information support, and will act as a dedicated food donation point.

The project is also committed to continue food drives at Home Park, with dedicated Project 35 takeover games, and at Morrisons Outland Road. The incredible generosity of supporters, shoppers, and community members has been overwhelming. These donation appeals, supported by our incredible Pledge 35 volunteers, enable us to keep the Manadon Food Larder stocked, providing food relief to local people.

Speaking on the new deal, Argyle Community Trust’s CEO, Mark Lovell, said: “We are extremely thankful to Ginsters for their continued support of Project 35.

“The partnership has played a vital role in helping us tackle the growing challenge of food poverty and has helped us deliver essential support to those most in need.

“The project has inspired us to come together, with Ginsters staff contributing over 800 voluntary hours towards food distribution, food education workshops, and event support - all of which would not be possible without our incredible Pledge 35 volunteers.

“Ginsters staff and volunteers have fully ingrained themselves in our values and in implementing our shared vision.

“We look forward to continuing to work with Ginsters and providing this critical project to the community.”

Plymouth Argyle CEO, Andrew Parkinson, added: “We are pleased to have agreed a new two-year deal to continue our long-standing relationship with Ginsters.

“The community is at the heart of everything we do here at Argyle, and by renewing with our principal partners for Project 35, we hope to show a clear indication of our commitment to the people of Plymouth, Devon, and Cornwall.

“I would like to thank everybody involved in Project 35, from across Ginsters, the Trust and our valued volunteers, for their incredible dedication and hope the scheme can continue to provide a vital service for the community moving forward.”

Sarah Babb, Ginsters Marketing Director says: “It’s an absolute honour to continue our support of such an important initiative in the local area in partnership with Argyle.

“The statistics surrounding food poverty across Devon and Cornwall are shocking; and we’re proud to be able to champion initiatives that support those in need.

“Celebrating the donation of 100,000 meals was a fantastic milestone and as the primary sponsor of the café at The Hub at Folston Park, we can continue to make support accessible to the community. We’re delighted to continue this long-standing partnership with Plymouth Argyle and Argyle Community Trust.”

The Cornwall-based brand will support in the delivery of a range of food poverty initiatives including food resilience workshops in primary schools, food-aid distribution schemes to families and individuals in temporary accommodation and deliver weekly food relief.

Further awareness of the community initiative will be visible by having Ginsters and Project 35 branding featured on the exterior of the Babcock Devonport End.

The partnership recently celebrated hitting the huge milestone of 100,000 savoury pastry products being distributed to children across Plymouth, Devon, and Cornwall, with this commitment now extended to delivering an additional 150,000 meals – taking the new milestone to an incredible 250,000 meals.

Ginsters products have been delivered to 28 locations across Plymouth, Devon, and Cornwall, across a total of 10,000 miles, providing lunches to our youth community events, including Premier League Kicks, and holiday programmes.
